Description: Kick off the North Athol Christmas Bird Count with Athol Bird and Nature Club and Mount Grace. The annual Christmas Bird Count is the longest continuously running citizen science project to collect bird data in the area. Dave Small will lead an all-ages 8 a.m. Christmas Bird Count walk around the Skyfields meadow and up into Lawton State Forest. No birding experience necessary! We'll start off with a concrete birding orientation accessible to all ages. After exploring bird habitat and searching for birds, we’ll return to the meadow to celebrate the sun and welcome light back to the land! Refreshments will be served around a solstice campfire.
