This special Pub Science event takes place on Give Back to the Land Day — a regional online day of giving that reminds us that the health of the land and the health of our communities go hand in hand. Learn more about this regional initiative here.

Description: Enjoy good company and 4 Star Brewery local craft beer and local Flis Market pizza while learning about the vital role of our region’s waterways and the latest advances in protecting them. MassWildlife scientist Becca Quinones will share research linking rivers and streams, fish health, and climate change. Plus, enter great raffles to support Mount Grace reach it’s fundraising goal of $20,000 this Give Back to the Land Day. The money raised will go directly towards our work in protecting the forests, farms, and waterways that sustain our communities.

About the Speaker: Becca has studied the impacts of dams, land use, and climate change on rivers and estuaries for more than 30 years. Some of her achievements include contributions to the removal of the Klamath River Dams in California, co-authorship of the National Climate Adaptation Strategy, and mainstreaming mitigation of climate change effects at MassWildlife. She has helped develop policies to protect and restore aquatic ecosystems in California, Mexico, Germany, and Massachusetts.She now oversees the Conservation Science Program at MassWildlife’s Natural Heritage and Endangered Species Program where she recently played a lead role in the completion of the 2025 State Wildlife Action Plan. When she is not dreaming about fishes, she enjoys exploring with her tiny chihuahuas and expanding her garden.
