Description

Calling on local Birders to join a community science effort to make four of Mount Grace’s conservation areas eBird hotspots.

What is an ebird hotspot?

Ebird is a free birding app created by the Cornell University Lab of Ornithology. When a location becomes a birding hotspot, birding data through the ebirding app gets shared directly with Mount Grace. We will use the data to inform how we manage the land to improve bird habitat and support species diversity.

Currently Mount Grace has three conservation areas that are hotspots, but we are hoping to add the locations below.

The Challenge:

Submit four birding lists between April 25th and June 6th and have your name entered into a raffle to win prizes.

Lists can be from the same location but different days, or from different sites.

Birding Locations:

Ending Event: Challenge participants are invited to the June 6th Nesting Bird Walk at Guiney Memorial Forest in Royalston, MA with Athol Bird and Nature Club Vice-President Ernie LeBlanc (Guiney is already a hotspot!)

RSVP: To sign up and to learn how to submit birding lists email Tessa (dowling@mountgrace.org)
