Description: Join Mount Grace for guided walk to the vernal pools at Gifford Family Memorial Forest where we will dip net the water and search for the tiny creatures that depend on these seasonal wetlands.
Vernal Pools come alive each spring with amphibians and aquatic invertebrates such as frogs, salamanders and fairy shrimp. Using nets and collection trays, we will gently sample the pools, learn how to identify what we catch, and talk about why these temporary wetlands are so important for wildlife. This event is a part of City Nature Challenge weekend, which is a global citizen science effort where people record as many species observations as possible utilizing the iNaturalist app.
What to Bring: Please wear waterproof boots. Come prepared for muddy boots and wet hands!
RSVP: Please email Caitie at dwyer-huppert@mountgrace.org.
